SUCKER PUNCH
ANEMIC ROYALTY
Retro, 8-Bit Music Video
THE BRIEF
Louisville punk and rock band Anemic Royalty wanted a music video to promote their lead single to their album of the same name, "Sucker Punch," that captured the aesthetic of various fighting video games. The goal was to create a visual experience that felt both retro and contemporary, like it packed a punch, and on virtually no production budget.

THE IDEA
Using nothing but an hour of studio time, a blue screen, and After Effects, I translated the song into a three act video that takes inspiration from the Street Fighter, Super Smash Brothers, and Mortal Kombat franchises. I created a world that feels like it's moving in-step with the instrumental itself and an homage to the fighting genre rather than simply illustrating it.
Additional promotional photography and short-form promotional content was also provided.
